This is a program of the Mental Health Association of Central Carolinas providing a wide variety of services for families with children who have mental health, emotional, or behavioral challenges.  No formal diagnosis is needed to participate in their free services.  As of this update, they have three support groups:  1) one for empowering parents and caregivers, 2) a teen group (both of which meet at Grace United Methodist Church), and 3) a grandparents raising grandchildren group (meeting at the Carlton Watkins Center).  This organization has a significantly energetic history with many caring people putting in lots of energy to make sure it works; it's noteworthy that every person working on the support groups has been a parent of a child with one of the above listed problems.  For more details about these groups and their other services, click here to visit the MHA site for ParentVoice or contact them at 704/336-7128 Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (or leave a message for a return call at other times).

This service provides comprehensive data and referral assistance for nonprofit and government resources in the NC counties of Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, and Anson counties and in or near the city of Mooresville, NC.  If you are calling on a landline or residential phone in one of those counties, dial 2-1-1.  If that fails, if you are calling on a cell phone, or if you are calling from anywhere else in NC, call 866/744-7778.  For calls from out of NC, use their local number of 704/377-1100. Although they are open 24 hours a day, you may wish to call weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. for non-emergency questions.
