A Widow's Walk - Support Group for Widows and Widowers. A small Christian group of widows and widowers who gather every other week to share fellowship, stories, laughter and tears. It is sponsored by Next Level Church; members and non-members of the church are welcome. They meet just beyond Matthews in a local coffee shop on the first and third Thursday of every month at 6:30pm. Bereavement Support Group (cancer-related) (Novant Health BK). This group not only has mutual emotional support, but also help for people to identify where they are in the grief process and learn tools to cope. They meet every Wednesday at 7pm. Grieving the Loss of a Spouse - St. Matthew [formerly Healing Hearts]. Warm supportive informal group providing a place to get together for anyone who has lost a spouse. The predominat age of members is 60s and 70s. The group is open to all denominations. HUGS (Healing and Understanding of Grief from Suicide). Meeting on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 7pm-9pm, this group provides healing, understanding, group support, and education for people who have lost a family member or friend to suicide. Living After Suicide (of a loved one). If you have lost someone to suicide, you should know that you are not alone. This group meets on the third Tuesday of each month in the living room at Solomon House in Huntersville from 7:00pm-8:30pm. The meetings provide members with a chance to share emotional support, let out grief with those who really understand, and get help putting one foot in front of the other. Men's Bereavement Group (widowers) at St. Matthew. A safe, comfortable and friendly place for men who have had a significant loss. Most of the members have lost a spouse, they welcome men with any loss. They create a place away from the real world where men will find others who have travelled the same path and who understand. They meet weekly at St. Matthew in the evening. Soul Widows Support Group. This group is for young widows, age 60 or younger, who have experienced the loss of their spouse or significant other. They provide an intimate space for a group of women to share their grief through speaking and listening to each others stories. The meetings allow each widow the chance to be heard, and to feel supported in a safe and supportive environment. The sponsoring organization (The Respite) also has other classes and groups relating to any type of bereavement and loss. Young Widows and Widowers Group [under 55] at St. Gabriel. A gathering of men and women who have lost spouses. This meeting is especially for people under 55 (or so) and concentrates on issues common to a younger age group. The group meets monthly on the 2nd Tuesday in the early evening.
