Bereavement Groups from Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region  (1356,709)
      Hospice sponsors facilitated groups in a variety of areas of Charlotte, Pineville, and Davidson for people who have lost a loved one (adult or child) to any cause. Bereavement Support Group (sponsored by Presbyterian Hospital Hospice and Palliative Care)   (1677, 709)
      An ongoing weekly evening group for any adult who has lost a family member or close friend to any cause.  For details on a group meeting at the Buddy Kemp Caring House, call BKCH at 384-5223 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30  p.m.

Footprints (1211, 708/709)

SECTION 2: Nonprofit agencies in Mecklenburg County
Kinder-Mourn (67,708/709)
      These folks provide a wide variety of services on a sliding scale for children and adults who have lost a family member or friend.  These services include groups and individual counseling for parents who have lost children of all and any ages (including during and after pregnancy) and for children through young adults who are grieving the death of a family member or friend.  There are no limits to which the manner that the person died.  Call 376-2580 Monday through Thursday 9-5 or Friday 9-3 for details; their address is 1320 Harding Place, Charlotte, NC 28204; click to go to their website at www.kindermourn.org. United Way 2-1-1 (Information and Referral Services)   (138, all)
This service provides comprehensive data and referral assistance for nonprofit and government resources in the NC counties of Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, and Anson counties and in or near the city of Mooresville, NC.  If you are calling on a landline or residential phone in one of those counties, dial 2-1-1.  If that fails, if you are calling on a cell phone, or if you are calling from anywhere else in NC, call 866/744-7778.  For calls from out of NC, use their local number of 704/377-1100. Although they are open 24 hours a day, you may wish to call weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. for non-emergency questions.

Inactive organization: TO LIFE
      TO LIFE (a nonprofit organization founded by Alexis Stein and Howard Winokuer) served Charlotte and the surrounding area from 1979 to 1996 providing a wide variety of grief related services.  It unfortunately no longer is in existence, but is included here because of its historical importance and the contribution Alexis,  Howard, and the staff made to Charlotte.
