SECTION 1:  Support groups in Mecklenburg County
Amputee Support Group of the Carolinas (formerly The Piedmont Regional Amputee Support Groups) (1021,705)
      A friendly place for children or adults who have had, or who are about to undergo, an amputation.  The monthly groups are peer led and are also for family and friends.  For details about their Charlotte area meeting, call Faith Regional Prosthetic-Orthotic Services at 704/334-1860 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  For details about their Gastonia meetings, call 704/866-7772 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The organization also has meetings in Albemarle, Concord, Gastonia, Monroe, Huntersville, Mooresville, and Statesville.  For an overall listing, click here.

Sharing Solutions Amputee Suport Group (1021,705)
A welcome group for those who have had, or who are about to undergo, an amputation.  They gather monthly on the third Thursday in the morning.  For details, call Impact Prosthetic Solutions on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 704/510-2204.  Be sure to call before you attend your first meeting to learn all relevant details.

SECTION 2: Nonprofit agencies in Mecklenburg County
United Way 2-1-1 (Information and Referral Services)   (138, all)
      This service provides comprehensive data and referral assistance for nonprofit and government resources in the NC counties of Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, and Anson counties and in or near the city of Mooresville, NC.  If you are calling on a landline or residential phone in one of those counties, dial 2-1-1.  If that fails, if you are calling on a cell phone, or if you are calling from anywhere else in NC, call 866/744-7778.  For calls from out of NC, use their local number of 704/377-1100. Although they are open 24 hours a day, you may wish to call weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. for non-emergency questions.
