| Both hospice and palliative care include comprehensive, holistic health
care to provide comfort (including control of pain and other physical symptoms)
as well as support in psychological, social, and spiritual areas.
In particular, hospice care is designed primarily for people with a life
expectancy of six months or less if the illness takes its expected course;
it also includes bereavement care and day to day in-home assistance.
Palliative care is for people with any life-threatening illness without
reference to life expectancy and may also focus on cure or active disease
management. All these services below are available regardless of the ability
to pay. |
